CERCA Energía offers municipalities a comprehensive service for the management and optimization of their solar plants

The renewable energy cooperative of the Calatayud region makes three support lines available to local entities to maximize the use of their photovoltaic installations.

CERCA Energía, the Renewable Energy Community of the Calatayud region, established as a non-profit cooperative, has presented a collaboration proposal to the municipalities of the region for the professional management of their photovoltaic installations (PVIs). With 18 installations in operation across 15 municipalities and more than 250 electricity supply points managed, the cooperative demonstrates extensive experience in the sector.

Three support lines to optimize municipal solar energy

CERCA’s proposal is structured around three areas of action:

1. Registration and/or updating of PVIs

Assessment of the project status, implementation of technical measures, administrative processing, and design of a utilization plan based on the municipality’s consumption analysis.

2. Optimization of energy distribution

Strategy for assigning distribution coefficients adapted to actual consumption, increased revenue from surplus energy sales, and application of virtual battery systems per supply point.

3. Extending benefits to residents

Incorporation of residents, shops, and local businesses as participants in the solar plant, with no investment required on their part. CERCA manages presentations and contracting under a mutual benefit model.

A model with no fixed costs for the municipality

The cooperative does not apply fixed costs to the municipality. Its remuneration consists solely of a fee of 2.5 cents per kWh produced, entirely allocated to the management, monitoring, and maintenance of the installation. This amount is deducted from the savings generated on the electricity bill, without directly affecting municipal accounts.

How to join CERCA

Step 1: Become a member of the cooperative by contributing €100 to the share capital.

Step 2: Sign a management and operation agreement for the PVI, while the municipality retains ownership of the installation.

Step 3: Contract electricity supply with CERCA for the supply points included in the utilization plan.

“We are not a company, we are your neighbors”

CERCA Energía defines itself as an entity serving the territory, focused on combating rural depopulation through the local generation and consumption of renewable energy. Its cooperative, autonomous, and non-profit model offers 100% renewable electricity supply, indexed to the OMIE market, with a commission of 2.05 cents per kWh, no long-term commitment, and no unnecessary costs.
