The European JALON program, coordinated by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), is working to boost the renewable energy community of the Comarca de Calatayud (CERCA). The European program is connecting renewable energy experts, local authorities and technical partners, including lawyers and solar energy engineers, with the aim of turning solar energy into an engine for the development of these rural areas. The initiative aims to achieve a total photovoltaic generation of 23 GWh/year, as well as to replicate the project in other rural areas of Europe.
